Holidays 2012 & Kollin Cummings 1st Birthday Celebration

Time, never enough, sometimes too much, it goes too quickly and sometimes just simply stands still. I have never really been a fan of Christmas, Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday; it seems as though Christmas gets more and more “un-fun” (it’s not a word, I made it up) every year. Maybe it’s just me, I like to enjoy the holiday with my family and lots of delicious food. A quite time enjoying each other is just perfect for me; I don’t need the stress of finding the perfect gift – at all.

There were busy days and dinner’s in the evening, trying to see everyone and there was very little rest, but most of all there was love and laughter. I adore my children and grandchildren; they do make my heart melt. I keep saying that, but it’s true. I look at them with such happiness and I love them with my whole heart.

And then, the 1st birthday of Kollin Ambrose Cummings; what a day! All of his tiny little friends attended along with cousin, grandmas, grandpas, aunts, uncles and great-grandpa. I cannot believe it’s been a year since Kyle and Erin blessed us with a grandson. A D O R A B L E! Enough said.

The pictures are of the birthday party and some of the holidays. It’s impossible to post them all. Memories that I will cherish always……

Take care friends, peace. Pam

To the person that said “you can never go home”; you don’t know what you are talking about. I love going home; to the house I grew up in, it will always be “my home”. My firm foundation was growing up in an Oklahoma farm family that made the land run in 1889, having grandparents and parents that were always there for us, and probably the very best food ever. “Home”.

Since we were in Houston for Thanksgiving, I went last weekend to help my mom decorate for Christmas and place wreaths on my dad and grandparents gravesites. Paying tribute, showing respect, remembering how much they mean to me. “Home”.

After decorating, my mom and I ventured out so I could take some photos. The creeks and rivers are literally gone. The drought is frightening. No water, anywhere. I could not believe how low the water was at the Low Water Bridge, funny right? No water at the Low Water Bridge? Anyway, barely a trickle. The sunsets were beautiful. The Oklahoma sky was full of color and no camera can capture what it really looked like.

My most favorite bridge on the way to my grandparents (Foster) will soon become a thing of the past. The county will soon begin a road construction project that will take the bridge out and widen the road. I have captured a memory so that my children and grandchildren will know what it looked like for me.

My family is great at keeping documentation and photos. My mom has boxes of pictures, farm records, journals and items of the past; dating back to 1889. Priceless heirlooms! Even my great grandmother’s Bible that made the land run is part of the collection. If you want to know the price of wheat in 1969 we can tell you, my grandfather’s journal is full of information. Or, the price of the car he purchased in 1974, it’s there too. Priceless heirlooms! I think I said that already. They mean so much to me and every time I go home, I take the time to read and go through them, my firm foundation, where I came from, who I am, and the fiber of my being. “Home”.

May you find your place, your home; hold it close to your heart, treasure your moments and the memories. Peace, Pam

Thanksgiving 2012

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Family, friends, and food; what a great combination! This year we traveled to Houston to the Cumming’s house “Thanksgiving by Erin”, it was wonderful.

My children (grown-ups) are amazing. Everyone says that about their families, but I have to admit, they make my heart melt. I love being around them, talking to them and my heart explodes with joy and pride as I see them nurture their own families now. I love them.

We ate, we played, we shopped, we napped and ate some more. Enjoy the pics. Peace, Pam
